Why sit on the couch and play a video game when you can play one in real life? HALI makes your iPhone a Heads Up Display (HUD) while playing a team Hide and Seek game outside, showing the location of teammates and opponents!

HALI (Hide and Locate Intruders) divides players into two teams, Hiders and Seekers. Hiders must work as a team to keep each other safe, while Seekers must coordinate to find and tag Hiders.

HALI shows the users a map, displaying the players' GPS locations. Seekers can use the map to get close to the Hiders, but as they approach the Hiders they must rely on their eyes to find and tag them. Hiders must decide when a Seeker is too close and determine when their location is no longer secure.

HALI was created & designed by the Resinauts: Matt Parker, Corey Menscher, Xiaoyang Feng, and Asli Sevinc.

"Play is serious business, but unfortunately, it's also a fast-diminishing commodity for today's kids, leading to a growing crisis for future innovation and the 21st Century workforce. Ultimate Block Party aims to bring playful learning back to the forefront!"

HALI was invited to be an activity at the Ultimate Block Party in Central Park on Sunday, October 3. We played a series of HALI games, and everyone had a great time! Click the photo below to see more photos of the day...
